Graphic Settings[ | ]

Option Description
Visual Effects

Adjusts the quality of in-game visual effects and scene complexity. Has a significant impact on performance and visual quality. See below table for more details.

Smoothing

Toggles the frame rate of the game during quests.

  • Normal locks the game to 30 FPS at all times.
    • On devices that have issues maintaining 60 FPS (appears to be stuttering or slowing down), normal smoothing may make the gameplay experience more consistent by preventing severe dips in frame rate.
    • Note that playing at a limited frame rate may compromise input latency.
  • Smooth permits the game to run at 60 FPS where possible, device performance permitting.
    • Menus outside of the in-quest pause menu, Notices, Dragalia Life, and Adventurer's Guide are still locked to 30 FPS on most devices even when Smooth is set.
    • If your device has a frame rate limiter option, make sure that it is set to 60 FPS or higher, or disabled entirely, or it will prevent the game from reaching the desired frame rate.
Image Quality

Sets the rendering resolution of the game.

  • Normal uses a low rendering resolution, and offers the highest performance, though scenes may appear to be blocky, and text may appear to be blurry.
  • Sharp uses a medium rendering resolution, and provides balanced performance and sharpness.
  • Very Sharp uses a high rendering resolution, and provides the sharpest display, though performance may be reduced on slower GPUs.
    • Note that this is subject to a resolution cap, imposed by the game or the device, if the device's screen resolution or effective screen resolution is very high (1080p or higher).
Visual Effects for Adventurers You Aren't Controlling

Toggles whether visual effects for non-controlled adventurers are shown with Visual Effects setting set to Good or better. Note that this setting does not affect Alberian Battle Royale.

  • If set to Off, visual effects will not be shown, similar to Basic graphics.
Setting level Description

  • Disables most non-critical graphic effects.
    • Attack and skill effects not belonging to the currently controlled adventurer will not display under most circumstances.
      • In Alberian Battle Royale, all attack effects from other combatants will show due to its PvP nature.
      • 100002 06 r05 Wedding Elisanne's Icon Skill 044 Sacred UnionLv. 1: Deals 1 hit of 1203% wind damage to enemies directly ahead, and creates a buff zone that lasts for 10 seconds and gradually heals the HP of adventurers inside it with 16% Recovery Potency every 3 seconds. [2902 SP]

Lv. 2: Deals 1 hit of 1051.5% wind damage to enemies directly ahead, and creates a debuff zone that lasts for 10 seconds and reduces the defense of enemies inside it by 15%. [6243 SP]
skills will still display their skill animations partially even if set to Basic quality and she is not the controlled adventurer.
    • The only post-processing effect rendered at this setting is the low HP warning border.
    • Frozen adventurers that aren't the controlled adventurer will not render an ice block, and may appear to be floating mid-air with a locked animation and a blue tint.
    • Buff zones are displayed as green squares or circles, and debuff zones are displayed as yellow rectangles or circles.
    • Ciella's Mist Veil refraction effect will still display as intended even at this setting, and does not require the Best visual effects setting.
  • Scene complexity is the lowest at this setting.
    • Most visual effects in backgrounds are disabled.
    • Some scenery objects do not appear at all at this setting; others may either appear incorrect (e.g. appearing entirely black) and/or be static instead of animated.
    • This setting uses a simplified skybox compared to the other higher settings in some scenes, such as raid arenas.
Good

The medium quality setting available in Dragalia Lost.

  • If Visual Effects for Adventurers You Aren't Controlling is enabled at the same time, enables the display of non-controlled adventurers' attack and skill effects.
  • Enables the display of healing numbers for non-controlled adventurers.
  • Enables the display of affliction, buff, and debuff visual effects on other adventurers.
  • Enables proper graphics for buff and debuff zones.
  • Enables the display of name tags of other players in a co-op quest.
  • Enables the display of AI adventurers belonging to other players in a raid quest.
  • Enables a limited amount of post-processing effects.
  • Enables higher scene complexity than Basic.
    • Visual effects within a scene will now display.
    • Certain scenery objects will animate in Good graphics.
    • The majority of scenery objects that are missing or black at Basic graphics will appear as intended.
    • The full skybox is used starting from this setting.
  • Enables depth-of-field in non-performance critical scenes (e.g. the quest results screen, and the fade-in preceding it when you clear a quest)
Better

The high quality setting available in Dragalia Lost.

  • Enables the display of damage numbers not belonging to the controlled adventurer.
  • Enables the display of damage received and affliction ticks not belonging to the controlled adventurer.
  • Enables the display of afflictions, buff effects, and debuff effects not belonging to the controlled adventurer as floating text.
  • Enables better quality lighting.
    • Lighting on models is now influenced by the environment's colors.
    • Shiny surfaces (such as metal on adventurers' models) will now shine.
  • Enables shadows on enemies.
  • Enables lighting on X-ray vision, where adventurers obscured behind walls, large obstacles, or large enemies are displayed as a colored silhouette. They appear as a solid color at lower settings.
  • Enables even higher scene complexity than Good.
    • Additional scenery animations and lighting are enabled, such as the crystal reflection in Agito arenas.
Best

The highest quality setting available in Dragalia Lost.

  • Enables best quality lighting.
    • Enables rim lighting on models.
  • Enables all post-processing effects.
  • Enables the highest scene complexity.
    • Water refraction is enabled.
      • This does not affect Ciella's Mist Veil refraction effect, as it is always enabled.
    • Enables denser particle effects.
  • Enables depth of field in nearly all 3D scenes; depth of field is not used only in raid quests at this setting.

Minimal Mode[ | ]

Enabling Minimal Mode will set the Visual Effects to Basic but with further cutbacks, sharpness to Normal, as well as affecting other things:

  • All voices are disabled.
  • Music and sound effects are disabled during quests.
  • Skill insets are disabled.
  • The controlled adventurer's attack and skill effects are not shown.
  • The minimap, combat log, and the Pause Settings menu are permanently disabled.
    • The game can still be paused normally with the options to resume, retry or give up.
  • It becomes impossible to configure Sound or Game settings as these tabs are locked in Minimal Mode.

Other performance tips[ | ]

Things to do within the game[ | ]

  • Reduce the Visual Effects and Sharpness settings to the lowest you can accept.
    • Very low Visual Effects and Sharpness settings may impede gameplay by removing information (e.g. affliction effects and/or affliction damage) or making text harder to read.
    • Conversely, some players might find it difficult to tell the action apart at higher Visual Effects settings.
      • It is possible to obtain a compromise by setting Visual Effects for Adventurers You Aren't Controlling to Off.
  • Set the display preference of the home screen to 2D to increase performance outside of quests.
  • Set the display preference of mana circles to 2D to increase performance while managing an adventurer's mana circle and decrease the time taken to load the mana circle.
  • Disable skill insets to increase performance.
  • Disable the combat log in the Options menu (not while within a quest) to increase performance.

Things to do outside the game[ | ]

  • Keep your device well-ventilated while playing the game. Heat will severely affect the performance of the device, and the game can slow down or stutter if the device overheats.
    • Play in an air-conditioned room if playing in a warm environment.
  • Depending on your device's behavior, either avoid playing the game while plugged in, or only play the game while it is plugged in.
    • Some devices will heat up significantly as the battery drains due to the high power consumption incurred by the game. In this case, the game will perform better if the device is left plugged in at full charge.
    • Other devices will heat up significantly if played while fully charged, due to the heat generated by the charging circuits. In this case, the game will perform better if the game is played only when the device is unplugged.
  • Very high display brightness may cause the device to heat up, reducing performance.
    • Playing the game outdoors under sunny weather may cause the onset of performance issues sooner than normal as automatic brightness will send the display to maximum brightness levels, in addition to heat from sunlight and the environment.
  • Disable any power-saving modes on your device before starting the game, as they have a tendency to limit maximum performance of your device.
  • If available, enable an optimized or high performance power mode on your device.
    • This may be labelled "Optimized", "High Performance", "Gaming" or other similar labels.
  • If the device provides a frame rate limiter, ensure that it is set to 60 FPS or above, or disabled entirely, to prevent inadvertent capping of frame rate.
  • If the device permits setting the display resolution independently of the screen's actual resolution, set it to a reasonable value for gaming (usually 1080p, even on devices with QHD or 4K displays)
  • Ensure that there is at least some amount of free space on your device to prevent any potential issues arising from the lack of storage space.
  • If the game still performs unacceptably or crashes too frequently even at Minimal Mode, consider upgrading the device.
    • The device should have a fast GPU. Many mid-range and flagship devices released within the last two years as of writing (May 31, 2020) will meet this criteria.
    • iOS devices should have a minimum of 2 GB of RAM, preferably more.
    • Android devices should have a minimum of 4 GB of RAM, preferably more. Some fast devices have 3 GB or less RAM; these devices should be avoided.
      • Avoid Android devices that do not have Google services installed, as the game relies on their existence. This significantly affects new Huawei devices.
