“ | One day, a call for help from a neighboring city reached the Prince and his companions. Atrocious fiends were appearing, including monstrous dragons transformed by the effects of black mana, and they were wreaking all manner of havoc! | „ |
Void Battles are a type of event quest centered on boss battles, unlocked upon the completion of Chapter 7 (Normal). There are multiple types of rewards one can obtain from void battles, most importantly currency for the Void Battle Treasure Trade (which resets every month) and materials for Void Weapons and various weapon abilities.
This article focuses on specific battles, see this page for general information about combat mechanics.
Progression[ | ]
Each Void Battle has one or more special mechanics that you can read about in-game with the "Details" button. The easier Void Battles have no special requirements, while the harder Void Battles require weapon abilities crafted using materials dropped by the easier void bosses.
To be prepared for Tier 3 Void Battles:
- If you and your team can memorize the attack patterns, you can skip crafting the ability and fight without breaking Overdrive.
- Fight Wandering Shroom for a Copy Punisher ability.
- Fight Frost Hermit for a Fury Penetrator ability.
- You are now ready for Raging Manticore and Smoldering Manticore.
- If you and your team can memorize the attack patterns, you can skip crafting the ability and fight without breaking Overdrive.
- Fight Gust Shroom for a Copy Punisher ability.
- Fight Twilight Hermit for a Fury Penetrator ability.

- Fight Amber Golem for a Dull Res ability.

- Healers may skip crafting the Scorching Air Res ability, but having it gives you more room for positioning mistakes.
- Offensive skill-using characters should fight Eolian Phantom for a Skill Resistance Penetrator ability.
- Close-range charagers should fight Catoblepas Anemos for a Scorching Air Res ability.
- You are now ready for Void Agni.
- The Whirlpool Res ability is completely optional in this fight, as Poseidon's whirlpools don't pose a significant threat. However, having Skill Resistance Penetrator can help the party clear faster.
- Fight Steel Golem for a Skill Resistance Penetrator ability.
- You are now ready for Void Poseidon.
- If you and your team can memorize the attack patterns, you can skip crafting the Divinity Penetrator ability and fight without breaking Overdrive. However, unlike manticores, Jeanne will have additional defense while in Overdrive due to Divine Protection, so having Divine Penetrator can help the party clear much faster.
- Fight Amber Golem for a Divinity Penetrator ability.
- You are now ready for Void Jeanne d'Arc.
- Fight Steel Golem for an Enervation Res ability.
- You are now ready for Void Nidhogg.

Void Zephyr Strike[ | ]
Boss Abilities:
- Dragon Delay: Attacks from the boss deplete the dragon gauge.
- Dull: Boss attacks deal an affliction that reduces a character's strength by 40% for 20 seconds.
- Sleep (50% affliction chance)
Tips:
- There are unavoidable attacks in this fight, so a healer is recommended unless the team has enough DPS to finish the battle before too much damage is sustained.
- Void Zephyr has short and mid range attacks targeting the front side with no telegraphing, try and keep to the sides and back.
- Since Void Zephyr is flying, you can move under it.
- Upon entering overdrive, Void Zephyr will use the unavoidable Savage Squall. The dull effect can be mitigated by a Dull Res weapon ability.
- Howling Vortex is a homing cross-hair attack whose damage is split among adventurers hit by it. The best way to avoid it is to break Void Zephyr before it occurs, but if that's not doable you should stand in the circle and help your teammates split the damage.
- Spiral Tornado is a series of purple attacks that fire in a clockwise fashion, centered on Void Zephyr. The fastest way to dodge is to run to the spot anti-clockwise of the first purple marker, then move into the place where the first marker was after the first tornado has fired.
- If a Dragon Delay Res ability has been crafted for only some of the weapons used, its effect only protects the adventurers with that ability. Since dragon gauge is shared across the party, if anyone without Dragon Delay Res is hit, then the gauge will still decrease for the entire party.
Void Weapons and Abilities:
- Weapon Unbind 7, Unbind 8, Wyrmprint Slots, Bonus, Copies
- High Midgardsormr's Bane
Void Agni Strike[ | ]
Boss Abilities:
- Scorching Air: Deals damage to any adventurer within a certain area around Void Agni.
- Skill Resistance: Boss takes 35% less damage from all skills.
- Stun (75% affliction chance)
Tips:
- The size of Scorching Air is approximately the same as the range of Lance users. Any adventurer with a shorter range (including Lances themselves) should craft the Scorching Air Res ability.
- Nearly all attacks will inflict stun. Try to get 75%+ Stun Res or run with Verica as the healer.
- Heat Seeker is an unavoidable purple attack. It's very important that everyone spread out during Heat Seeker, since you will get hit by the attack multiple times on places where the circle overlaps. If there are non-stun resistant teammates, a Verica player should save their first skill and use it right after this attack.
- Devastation/Flames of Devastation is a long rectangular purple attack that fires 2 times (3 if in Overdrive), will always target the farthest adventurer, and will move to track the player. Pay close attention to when the attack bar fills up and dodge at the last second. Shapeshifting into a dragon is acceptable if you are not confident in your dodge timing.
- Heavy Eruption is a purple attack that drops mounds of lava on the battlefield and will track players. This attack is followed by Coronal Ignition which is unavoidable unless you hide behind a lava mound. If you find yourself targeted, do your best to place the mounds close to Void Agni in order to make it easier for people to hide behind them. That said, the best way to avoid Coronal Ignition is to Break him before it happens.
Void Weapons and Abilities:
- Weapon Unbind 7, Unbind 8, Slots, Bonus, Copies
- High Brunhilda's Bane
Void Poseidon Strike[ | ]
Boss Abilities:
- Whirlpool: Adventurers near the boss will have slowed movement, and will be pulled towards the boss.
- Skill Resistance: Boss takes 35% less damage from all skills.
- Freeze
Tips:
- The majority of Poseidon's attacks are in front of him, so moving to his back as much as possible is a good method to stay safe.
- Spheres of Salvation is a move where Poseidon will summon 6 transparent bubbles on the map. If someone enters a bubble, then they are completely invulnerable from all attacks. If a second person tries to enter an occupied bubble, however, the bubble will pop. Ranged units may enter the bubbles now if they wish, and melee units should position themselves to enter one quickly if needed, for the next attack:
- Almighty Torrent is a screen-wide attack that can deal fatal or near-fatal damage to anyone it hits. The move can be avoided by: breaking Poseidon after Spheres of Salvation but before this move starts, turning into a dragon and being in the middle of using a dragon skill at the moment the attack hits, or standing in a safety bubble at the moment the attack hits.
- Twisting Swell is a purple attack that places circles in north, south, east, and west positions centered on Poseidon. It can be avoided by standing close to him, or moving diagonally away.
- Churning Blockade: Poseidon will summon opaque balls of water across the middle of the map. These balls can be destroyed by attacking them, after which they will split into smaller balls in the direction the ball was destroyed. At least a few of these balls should be broken to prepare for the next attack:
- Deadly Deluge is a purple attack that randomly selects one half of the map, upper or lower, with the Churning Blockade dividing the halves. If Poseidon selects the side that the team is on, the blockade needs to be broken as soon as possible to get everyone to safety. Note that it is possible for the attack to select the side that the team is not on - in such a scenario, it can be safely ignored.
- Summon Whirlpool is a purple attack that will lock on to two players and spawn whirlpools under their positions. These whirlpools then stay static on the map for some time. Whirlpools are not a huge problem, however, and this attack will not do any damage.
Void Weapons and Abilities:
- Weapon Unbind 7, Unbind 8, Slots, Bonus, Copies
- High Mercury's Bane
Void Jeanne d'Arc Strike[ | ]
Boss Abilities:
- Divine Protection: Overdrive gauge cannot be depleted by player attacks. Void Jeanne d'Arc will also have additional defense while Overdrive is active.
- Dragon Delay: Attacks from the boss deplete the dragon gauge.
- Blind
Tips:
- Early in the fight, Jeanne will cast Almighty Downfall to place 4 flag poles on the map. These poles will persist throughout the fight, and interact with some of her other moves.
- Unholy Dominion starts as a red circle attack, centered on one of the poles at random. After this, a lightning bolt will draw a line from the struck pole to another pole, and repeats until 3 lines have been drawn. Lines can be drawn from any pole to any other pole, straight-on or diagonally. This can be avoided by i-framing, but it is safer to roll away due to the following attack:
- Lightning Salvo is a purple attack centered on each player, usually cast during or right after Unholy Dominion. This can be avoided by simply rolling away from your previous position. Due to this often being paired with Unholy Dominion, using a skill to i-frame Dominion may be unsafe, as the skill may hold you in place long enough as to be unable to dodge Salvo. if you are hit by Salvo, it will inflict Blind.
- Chain Lightning is a line of red circle attacks in Jeanne's line of sight. The wind-up on this attack is long, so go around Jeanne's back to safely get in some damage.
- Jeanne may summon soldiers in the middle of the fight. These enemies are not particularly threatening, but are bulky and can become a nuisance to healers and ranged units. If you find a moment where you aren't close enough to hit Jeanne, then chipping away at these enemies may be helpful.
- Ring of Torment is a purple donut-shaped attack that goes around the edge of the arena. Jeanne will move above the upper-right flagpole and move clockwise around the map, ending at the point where she started. Stay near the map's center to dodge this, and hold a force strike near the upper-right flagpole so you can hit Jeanne when she finishes the attack. If the soldiers are still alive, this is a good opportunity to deal some damage to them.
Void Weapons and Abilities:
- Weapon Unbind 7, Unbind 8, Slots, Bonus, Copies
- High Jupiter's Bane
Void Nidhogg Strike[ | ]
Boss Abilities:
- Ranged Resistance: Boss takes 90% less damage from characters that use ranged weapons: Bow Wand Staff and Manacaster.
- Enervation: Attacks inflicts an affliction that significantly reduces the strength of a character for a while. This effect stacks.
- Poison
Tips:
- Nidhogg will open the fight by doing a red dash attack across the stage. Simply move to the side and hold a force strike to hit Nidhogg after he finishes.
- Dark Detonation is an unavoidable screen-wide attack. When Nidhogg enters Overdrive, he will immediately walk to the center of the map and start charging this move. If the move lands, it will throw the entire team high into the air and deal damage to each member equal to 90% of their current HP. Afterwards, Nidhogg will writhe on the ground as if he were Broken, giving a great opportunity to deal damage and actually break him. If possible, the team should try to either break Nidhogg before Dark Detonation goes off, or stun him with a unit such as Annelie to cancel the attack.
- Since Dark Detonation deals percentage-based damage, it can't actually kill anyone unless they are at 1 hp. Nidhogg's other moves have no such safety, however, so if Dark Detonation is successful then Nidhogg's remaining attacks become much more dangerous.
- Nidhogg's un-telegraphed moves include a claw swipe in front of him, ground smash also in front of him, and a spit ball that homes in on the position of one player. It's often difficult to tell who the ball targeted, so it's advised to run from the ball just in case, especially if the team is still on low health from Dark Detonation.
