We fought to a stalemate, and then Victor left the army without me getting a chance for a rematch. "To me, it felt like you ran away with my win," I say, as I narrow my eyes in the sunlight from the window.

Facing the window with a steaming mug in his hand, the former Commander responds. "Do you care to resolve it now?" Unable to tell his feelings from his face, I give a brief sigh and answer.

Better not. My adjutant will make a fuss. "Spoken like a fine superior officer." Hearing those words, I realized what I had felt toward him back then: envy. But now... "Indeed. I'm different from you, after all."
